Senior Dog Sanctuary

One thing I absolutely love keeping up with are the amazing animal sanctuaries across the country, including Severn, MD’s Senior Dog Sanctuary. Senior dogs are something we haven’t yet touched based on here at Savvy Paws, but I think it’s time to change that.

When it comes to senior dogs, many people have a false belief that it’s not worth it. That your time with that animal may be cut short because of their age and that you don’t want to put yourself through heartbreak. Try thinking about it the opposite way. Imagine how much of an impact you’ll make on that senior dog and the incredible bond you’ll have. Many senior pets are grateful for your love and will show it through lots of snuggles.

If you’re not familiar with the Senior Dog Sanctuary, their mission is to “[provide] a permanent safe haven for senior dogs who are unable to be cared for by their owners, who are abandoned or abused, or face euthanasia.” They work hard every day to ensure they’re doing all they can to help seasoned canine citizens find people like you and me to spend the rest of their years with. (Love, kisses, and treats are a requirement, by the way.)

Not sure you are ready to adopt? No problem. There are plenty of other ways to help out! Opportunities to volunteer with the Senior Dog Sanctuary, foster, and join the kennel sponsor program are available right now. If you’re looking to make a donation, an Amazon Wishlist is currently set up. Don’t forget to use Amazon Smile if you make a purchase!

I’d like to personally thank everyone at this organization for taking the time to show senior pups the love and attention they deserve. It’s never too late to give up on finding a forever home! ❤️
